After watching the song revolution of Estonia DVD, I feel it would be beneficial for this country to have singers, state by state, recorded, a DVD made and monies given to grassroots organizations who support conservative candidates! What do you think? I have been praying for our country. Cheryl Breon, Gainesville, FL
Tere, hello, I am a visiting student from Canada, and I saw this exhibition this last weekend in Tartu, and really want to give my appreciation and compliments to such a simple yet effective reminder of our history. Moments of tears swelled up, and much nostalgia as well. A sea of emotions, but most importantly, educational and informative. Very well done by the organizers.
As an anti-Stalinist communist I understand the hatred many eastern European people have.
In the name of Marx and Lenin, millions were murdered by totalitarian governments.
But I find it wrong to blame communism for it. Communism is not anti-democratic and not against democracy or human liberty. Communism has been betrayed by Stalin and others, many good communists were killed by that monster including Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian communists.
Stalinism is evil and that is what people destroyed in 1989. But a bourgeoisie democracy is not what will bring true freedom. Look at the Baltic today, see how many families are effected by neo-liberalism! Capitalism is not the way for mankind.
The anticommunists use the Stalinist occupation of the Baltic's to fuel anticommunism and to keep people in line of capitalism and nationalism.
Understand that communism is not what ruled the Baltic nations during soviet days. To call that communism is like calling Russia today a liberal democracy which it is not.
